Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season. I was back in NJ visiting my folks, and took advantage of the downtime to catch up on a lot of movies and unplug a bit. While I certainly wasn't cyber-free, it was good to take a break from my usual gadget & Internet addiction. Saw some incredible films, including THE HURT LOCKER, PRECIOUS and DISTRICT 9. I also finally got the chance to watch the pilot for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, which is a four hour movie. And as all my fellow sci-fi friends warned, I got totally sucked into it. Time to go rent the series DVDs...so much for that resolution to spend less time in front of the TV in 2010...
Getting ready to head to Science Online 2010 in North Carolina next week, where I'll be co-hosting a panel on Science & Hollywood. Part of the panel will focus on how scientists and science writers can take what studios do online for sci-fi films as inspiration for how to share real science on the InterWebs. As part of my prep, I've been reviewing a lot of the online marketing campaigns of the past year or so. It's been a blast delving into these cutting-edge creative endeavors, from fantastic banner ads for STAR TREK that allow you to explore the bridge of the new ship, to the tongue-in-cheek site for a Soul Storage company from the movie COLD SOULS. You can read more about the other panels at the conference here.
I'm simultaneously getting ready for Sundance, where I'll be covering the fest for several outlets including Documentary Magazine and Tubefilter.tv. The doc crop this year looks fantastic - new films from vets like Alex Gibney and Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady, intriguing subjects ranging from the paparazzi to ethically challenged anthropologists. I love, love, love the feeling of anticipation at this time of year, as I get ready to see the docs that we'll be talking about for the next 12 months.
On the acting front, I just started my latest round of improv classes at iO West. Taking class with Scot Robinson this time - very fun!
still love every scrap I have left in my stash and ever project I've done with it! Thanks
for sharing.
People are always telling you what to do, but what's right for them may not be right for
you.

It is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.

The pleasure of the senses is always regulated in accordance with the imagination. Man can aspire to felicity only by serving all the whims of his imagination
